What Is It About Motorists?
56There's Nothing Wrong With Speed Cameras
I keep hearing and reading of motorists whingeing and whining about speed cameras. Their complaints centre around the fact they have recently received a fine and a licence endorsement for going beyond the speed limit. My generic answer to such complaints is one word - tough!
The simple and most effective way of ensuring no fine is received is not to speed; ease off the accelerator; drive within the speed limits. It may not be an exact science, but it is a rather logical, socially acceptable and easy way of ensuring your money stays in your pocket and not handed over to the relevant authorities.
Speed cameras are built to react and to take photos of vehicles that are travelling faster than the law allows. There is generally, although I will admit not always, a good reason why a camera is situated in its location. Reasons may be for the safety of schoolchildren, the location may be a 'black spot' for accidents, the fact roadworks are taking place, but to name three.
The idea that an immobile object i.e. the speed camera, is to blame for a motorist receiving a speeding fine is quite ludicrous (I could use other words and phrases) considering it is plainly obvious even to the most stupid in society that the offender is the speeding motorist.
There is a way to prevent the receipt of a speeding fine and that is not to speed. Simplicity at work. No speeding equals no fine.
As long as drivers continue to break the speed limits, the speed camera will remain a fact of motoring life. Stop speeding and the camera will become redundant and the motorist will have more money to spend on fuel.
